The Hawick High School former pupil is now PE teacher.

    Heather Rosemary Lockhart made her Scotland debut as against the USA in November 2004. The Craigholme School former pupil is also an Oxford University blue and has played international tennis and hockey as well as rugby. After studying law at Oxford and Edinburgh universities she is now competitions co-ordinator for Tennis Scotland. She has also played club rugby for Murrayfield Wanderers. Sport runs in Heather’s family. Her father, Brian, played scrum half for Glasgow Academicals and Glasgow’s district team, and her mother, Christine, played hockey for Scotland and is in Great Britain’s current Over-60s tennis team. Heather’s brother, Dougie, plays cricket for Scotland, and sister Abbe is a Cambridge University tennis blue.

    Nikki McLeod was in the Scotland Development Squad in 2007-2008 and stepped up to the national team in February 2009. As the youngest member of the squad, aged 19, she made her debut as a replacement in the Six Nations Championship match against France at Arras. She also made championship appearances as a substitute against Ireland and England and then against the Netherlands as Scotland won the FIRA/AER European Trophy in Enköping, Sweden, in May that year. She played for the North-East of Scotland indoor hockey team in 2006. The Edinburgh University physical education student was educated at Stuartfield Primary School and Mintlaw Academy.

The Penicuik High School former pupil is now a sport and exercise science student at Heriot-Watt University.

She played in eight of Scotland’s nine internationals in the first half of 2009. She also played for Scottish Universities while she was at Edinburgh University. The Portobello High School former pupil, a Napier University graduate in sports science, is now a casework assistant.

    Laura Steven played in all nine of Scotland Women’s internationals in the first five months of 2009, starting with the game against Sweden followed by the Six Nations Championship and the European Trophy success in Sweden. Previously, she played for Scottish Universities in 2003-2004 while she was at Dundee University. Appearances in the Scotland Development Squad followed in 2004-2005 and 2006-2007 and after her international debut against Canada in autumn 2007 she played in the Six Nations Championship and the European Championship in 2008, scoring two tries against Spain in the later competition. She also played for Scotland in the Dubai Sevens in 2007. She was Dundee University rugby captain in 2006-2007. The Kilmarnock Academy former pupil is now a doctor.
