And the 34-year-old hopes to be part of the new era when Coach Warren Gatland takes over this weekend, aiming to carry on at the top level as long as he can.

“Do I get a letter from Norris McQuirter now?” joked the Dragons back rower on being asked about his achievement, overtaking Italy’s Carlo Checchinato.

“It is a proud moment, an achievement, but you would easily sacrifice that for a few more wins in games I had scored in.”

Charvis is looking to carrying on under Gatland for as long as he can, hoping that the New Zealander will have seen signs in the Wales's performance against South Africa that things can get better.

“Warren Gatland would have looked at a few areas to improve, he would probably appreciate we have got better since our last game against Fiji and he would see promising signs,” Charvis told the Welsh Rugby Union website.

“He is in a position now where he has seen a team improve compared to the World Cup team and I am sure he will look at a lot of players around Wales and formulate his team. I would like to carry on and get a thousand caps, but that is not going to happen. However, I loved playing for Swansea all those years ago, Newcastle, Tarbes and especially the Dragons now.

“I relish every opportunity to play for Wales; I am just very happy with the achievements I have got playing for Wales for 11 years now.”
