Rennie call gives Cairns heart

Ben Cairns admits drawing inspiration from fellow Edinburgh youngster Ross Rennie's call-up into the Scotland training squad.
The 22-year-old scored a try in Edinburgh's thrilling win at Ulster last Friday in a game where Rennie, 21, was named man of the match.

Rennie has been called up into the national squad for a training session as Scotland prepare for the RBS 6 Nations in February.

Former Currie back Cairns believes Rennie's progress has shown him what is required to make the step up to being considered for Test rugby.

Cairns said: "If you look back to last year, Ross and I were the two young guys that had made it into the first team and who were playing week in, week out.

"So it is really good to see how Rosco (Rennie) has taken it on this season.

'He has been one of the key players in our team and for him to get into Scotland's training squad is really good.'
