Gavin Hastings
Trio inducted into hall of fame

By PA Sport
Three Scottish heroes, Gavin Hastings, Iain Laughland and Mike Biggar will become the first inductees into London Scottish's Hall of Fame, at a gala dinner on November 27.
The dinner will mark St Andrew’s day and celebrate London Scottish’s achievement in nurturing more than 200 players for Scotland’s international team.

The men were chosen as a result of their distinguished contributions to the club, and the wider game.

The dinner will also be attended by Scotland’s head coach Frank Hadden, former coach Ian McGeechan, and erstwhile international winger and star of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, Kenny Logan,

Hastings, former Scotland and British Lions captain, said: “I had a wonderful time when I played at the club and I have a lot of great friends there. It’s an honour to have been chosen to enter the Hall of Fame and I’m looking forward to the dinner next Friday. I’m sure it will be a fantastic evening.”

Black tie and Highland dress is the order of the night with champagne, dinner, St Andrew’s Day entertainment and an auction to help raise funds for the club.

Nick Evans, London Scottish general manager, said: “The evening aims to be a celebration of all the Scottish international players over the years and is the first time we have inducted players from three generations.

“Money raised will go towards helping the club get back to its former heights in the British game and the London Scottish Academy, which is co-funded by Scottish Rugby and Friends of Scottish Rugby, will also benefit from the evening.”

Hastings (Watsonians, Cambridge University, London Scottish) won 61 caps for Scotland, scored a record 667 points and was captain 20 times during his international career.

Biggar (London Scottish) first played for his country in 1975 against Ireland and went on to record 24 caps in total. He was awarded the captain’s armband four times.

Laughland (London Scottish) recorded 31 caps for Scotland with his first against France in 1959 and captained Scotland twice during his international career.
