Street hails England women's grit

England women's head coach Gary Street hailed his team's gritty 15-3 defeat of France but says talk of a Grand Slam is banned until the job is complete.

Emily Scarratt and Kay Wilson got the tries in the Stade Charlety in Paris but they had to weather heavy periods of pressure.

The result means England have conceded just six points in four games and one try in the over the course of the last two years in the RBS 6 Nations Championship.

It now means Ireland stand between Street’s team and a fourth consecutive Grand Slam but the England coach maintains his team are only concentrating on the performance rather than their legacy.

“This was a fantastic performance,” he said. “The players dug deep in an intimidating atmosphere against a seriously physical French team.

"We defended magnificently and controlled the ball for long periods of time and scored two outstanding tries that would be worthy of being scored in any world-class international rugby match.

"Next up is Ireland and we have got to keep our feet on the ground. We are not thinking about the title or the Grand Slam, next week will be all about getting the job done."
