“The two weeks after the Six Nations are difficult to manage because the players who were with France have got new habits,” he said.
“There is also the psychological let-down for the players. Those who played a lot while the internationals were away think they will get a bit of a rest.
“But the internationals who come back also need a break after five games at Test level. So you have a bit of a come-down over the two weeks following the Six Nations.
“That’s where it’s our job as coaches to get the squad working together, the internationals and the others, to have a full squad working well.”
