Derbyshire calls for calm as Italy aim to create history

Flanker Paul Derbyshire insists Italy can't afford to get carried away with their impressive RBS 6 Nations start - despite being on the verge of creating history against Scotland this weekend.
After beating France 23-18 on Sunday the Azzurri head to Murrayfield looking to secure their third successive victory in the RBS 6 Nations for the first time.

Italy beat Scotland in their final game of the 2012 championship and followed it up with an opening day victory this term, but despite being buoyed by their performance against les Bleus last weekend Derbyshire is keeping his feet on the ground.

“The compliments from the world of rugby have given us enthusiasm,” he said.

“But if we take Saturday's match lightly, that would be the biggest mistake we could make.”

Italy have won only two matches in the same Six Nations tournament once – in 2007 – and in order to rectify that statistic head coach Jacques Brunel has made just one change.

Gonzalo Canale replaces Alberto Sgarbi, the centre injuring his ankle in the France clash, to form a new centre partnership with Tommaso Benvenuti and Brunel claims he had to keep the faith with his triumphant troops.

“I could have made more alterations to freshen up the team but I couldn't change the team after the game against France,” said Brunel.

“Last Sunday we played the way we wanted to, and now we must continue at the same level.”
