The 2001 IRB World Young Player of the Year has often struggled to live up to his early promise but when he is fit and on form he is one of the best inside centres in the game. He has the envious record of never having lost an RBS 6 Nations game that he has started - his 10 starts encompassing the 2005 and 2008 Grand Slams. He has been troubled by an Achilles injury this season and will face stiff competition from Jamie Roberts for the No12 shirt, but he is a vital figure for Wales.
