Scotland Under-20 will face their counterparts from South Africa, Samoa and the United States in the IRB Junior World Championship to be staged in Wales next June.
The draw was announced by the IRB for the tournament, which will run from June 6-22, and which will comprise four pools of four with the winner of each tournament progressing to the knockout semi-finals while other teams will play for positional ranking.

Scotland will play all their pool games at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, North Wales, opening against Samoa on June 6, with South Africa on June 10, before concluding their pool against the USA on June 14.

Scotland under-20 head coach Colin Robertson said: “The thing that strikes me is that we face opponents who will have three distinctly different styles.

“South Africa, who were beaten finalists in the under-19 world championship last season, will be an all-round outstanding team; we’ll have to look at ways of countering Samoa’s physicality; and we know that the Americans have a very structured development programme.

“As ever we’ll prepare to win games but we’ll also be very conscious of trying to develop players as well.

“Our main focus at present is preparing for the Six Nations championship and thereafter we’ll have eight weeks to concentrate on the world championship.”
