Bennett: Scotland Under-20s deserved better results

Scotland Under-20s centre Mark Bennett admits the RBS 6 Nations was a case of what might have been after a narrow defeat to France ended their campaign on a low note.
The 20-year-old, who played in all but one of Scotland’s RBS 6 Nations games – the 21-20 victory over Ireland – gained some valuable international experience before joining back up with club side Glasgow Warriors this week.

But after helping down Italy 30-17 at Netherdale in the Scots’ second game of the Championship Bennett was hoping to taste more success.

He came within a late drop goal of earning a share of the spoils in France on Sunday, eventually losing 13-10, but Bennett believes there are lessons to be learned.

“The Six Nations was a good experience and great to get some games, even if there were a couple of games where we felt we maybe deserved better results,” he said.

“The last game against France was frustrating, we missed a couple of chances and when you look back that was the difference.

“Fair play to them, they got a late drop goal, but it’s one more defeat which we could have won.”
