England Under-20s
Sinckler and England will prove they have learnt from last year's RBS 6 Nations defeat

Sinckler: French won't out-muscle me this time around

England Under-20s front row Kyle Sinckler admits although his first taste of international rugby on foreign soil may have ended in defeat against France last year, such experiences have made him a far better player.
The Harlequins prop featured in England 12-8 loss at the Stade de la Rabine in the 2012 RBS 6 Nations, but this time around Sinckler insists he is far better prepared for the challenge ahead.

After opening weekend victories against Scotland and Italy respectively, England and France both suffered defeat in their second fixtures, adding extra importance to Saturday’s game at Worcester RFC.

But Sinckler believes England’s more regimented training regime, in which they have paid more attention to detail in each area of the game, will prove the difference this time.

“Last year we did have a tough time against the French away from home in that partisan atmosphere,” said Sinckler. “At the same time it was a really good learning experience for me.

“It was my first trip in professional rugby playing against those guys who have a big set-piece focus which made me a better player. I learnt a huge amount from the campaign last year.

“Traditionally the French have big, heavy forwards and like to scrum and maul. Those are the teams you want to face as a front row forward.

"What we've tried to focus on this year is less outcome goals, and focus on what leads to that outcome. So we'll focus on certain things throughout the week whether that be our set-piece, something to do with our attacking game or defensive game.

“We know if we hit those three or four things in each part: attack, defence, set-piece then we'll be fine and that outcome goal will be the win.

“So we don't say 'we need to win', we say 'what are the processes to go through to make us work well' and then the win will come naturally."
