Wales got off to the perfect start after a miscued chip from French outside-half Enzo Selponi was collected by Elliot Dee with the hooker releasing Bennett for the first try of the game.

Scrum-half Serin pulled France to within four with a penalty after 22 minutes but Wales extended their lead when Davies' long pass found centre Allen who stepped inside to touch down.

And Wales had a third try and a 21-3 lead six minutes before half-time as lively scrum-half Williams scored an opportunist try with Davies kicking a third straight conversion.

Allen pounced on a loose ball before feeding Ashley Evans who made 40 yards before looping a pass inside to Williams who powered over the whitewash for the score.

Serin slotted a second penalty to make it 21-6 three minutes later but the French scrum-half was to miss another easier one moments after the interval.

However France still had an opportunity with Nicky Thomas sent to the sin bin for persistent infringement at scrum time but Wales were resolute.

That was until the 51st minute when Serin sent in wing Wieprecht for a try that he would convert from the touchline to make it 21-13.

Davies kicked a drop goal to keep France at bay however Wales soon saw Gareth Thomas yellow carded for a dangerous tackle on Wieprecht.

France couldn't make the advantage count though and Davies extended the score to 27-13 with a long-range penalty ten minutes from time.
