And despite only a handful of games, Faletau still managed to turn heads with his mature performances - none more so than in an assured display against a star-studded Osprey's back row featuring the likes of Wales captain Ryan Jones and All Black Jerry Collins in a 28-20 Dragons win.
But the one head Faletau is hoping to turn is that of Wales head coach Warren Gatland - and in doing so become the first player of Tongan origin to don the famous red shirt of Wales' senior side.
Already a fixture in the Wales Under-20 team, Faletau has set his sights on breaking into the senior side but insists he is not driven by re-writing the record books - but simply a desire to repay the country he now calls home.
"Playing for Wales Under-20s has been great and it is a really good feeling when you run out for an international at any level," he said.
"And playing for the senior side is a dream of mine and we will just have to wait and see when or if it happens.
"If it were to happen I know I would be first Pacific Islander to pull on the Wales shirt and that would make me immensely proud.
"It would be great to make history like that but that is not the only reason why I want to play for the senior side.
"It would be brilliant but it is not the main thing for me. It is something to strive for but I just want to play for Wales, whether I was the first to do it or not."
