The scoreboards would suggest that Scotland have been comprehensively beaten in their opening three matches – failing to score a point in defeats to England and Italy before going down 30-3 to Ireland last time out.

But Findlay, who makes two changes to her starting line-up with Laura Steven coming in at inside centre for Lisa Ritchie and lock Bridget Millar-Mills replacing Becca Parker, believes that does not tell the whole story.

Wales arrive in Scotland on a high after getting their campaign back on track with a narrow victory over Italy, but Findlay is convinced her side can open their account on Sunday.

She said: “The match this weekend is a crucial game for us. It will be fantastic to have the opportunity to showcase the women's game on the west side of the country and get support behind the team.

“It will, as always against Wales, be a physical contest, a hard battle up front and in the back row division, and both sides recognise the importance of a win.

"We now need to use each match as an opportunity to build on performance. To be fair, Italy and Ireland were steps in the right direction and it's about time the team got its deserved break.

“The players who were involved against Ireland know the final scoreline did not reflect the possession or efforts the team put in until the last quarter.

“The side are continuing to grow, and their commitment and focus remain a credit to them.”

Elsewhere, France head to Dublin to face Ireland with their opening defeat to Italy all but forgot following impressive victories over Wales and England at Twickenham.

But they face an Ireland team who wrapped up the Triple Crown last time out and who remain on target for a first ever RBS 6 Nations Grand Slam.

Meanwhile, England host Italy looking to restore some pride after their defeat to France rendered their hopes of claiming the title for an eighth year in a row effectively over.
