Huget ready to repay Saint-André's faith

Yoann Huget admits it's a show of faith from Philippe Saint-André to leave him in the full-back jersey despite the international return of his Toulouse teammate Maxime Médard for France's RBS 6 Nations clash with Ireland in Dublin.
Having come through as a winger, Huget has been used at full-back by Toulouse this year, and in the absence of Brice Dulin, filled the same role for les Bleus.

Médard started at full-back for France in the World Cup final in New Zealand in 2011 and is capable of playing across the back three.

However Saint-André has chosen to start Médard on the right wing, leaving Huget at 15.

Huget said: “It’s a sign of confidence from the coaching staff. Max comes back on the wing because it’s the position he has played the most with Toulouse .

“He’s played at full-back as well in his last few games. It’s a versatility which will allow us to switch during the game.

“On certain phases of play we will be able to switch. Max has a fantastic left foot and we need to use it. When it comes to counterattacking, that will just depend on the situation.

“[With Vincent Clerc and Médard] we know each other well and can anticipate what the others will do. We will have to be patient though and not try to force things.

“If it rains then I will be bombarded, it makes sense. I’m ready for that, it’s part of being a full-back. It’s not something that scares me and I’ll concentrate on the high balls.”
