Parisse calls for Italy to remain humble

Italy captain Sergio Parisse claims his side must ignore the hype if they are to follow up the defeat of France by beating Scotland in the RBS 6 Nations this weekend.
The Azzurri upset the odds in Rome last weekend, beating 2011 World Cup finalists France 23-18 and they will travel to Scotland in search of a second successive win in this year’s competition.

Scotland will be looking to bounce back from a defeat to England at Twickenham but lost the last meeting between the two sides in their final game of the 2012 Six Nations.

Parisse led by example in the opening round, scoring the first try of the game at the Stadio Olimpico, but the 29-year-old is in no mood to rest on his laurels.

“Now we are aware we are strong and have shown we are a good team. We have earned the respect of all,” said the No.8.

“But now we also have to be good at managing the expectations that there will be upon us. To start with a win, and in addition against Les Bleus, has a special flavour but we have to be good now to manage the moment.

“The Scots cannot wait to win at home. We must remain humble and recover well physically because in a few days we will have a tough match.”
