Jamie Heaslip will captain Ireland for the fourth time against England on Sunday

Heaslip hasn't forgotten Twickenham pain

Ireland captain Jamie Heaslip admits last year's defeat to England at Twickenham is still fresh in the memory as he side welcome Stuart Lancaster's men to Dublin this Sunday.
Last season Heaslip and co were downed 30-9 in London with England’s dominant scrum proving pivotal, especially following the loss of Ireland prop Mike Ross through injury.

Since completing the Grand Slam in 2003, England have beaten Ireland just twice in nine RBS 6 Nations matches and they have not won a Championship match in Dublin.

But, perhaps mindful of the fact that England have won the last two meetings between the sides, having also prevailed in a 2011 World Cup warm-up match at the Aviva Stadium, skipper Heaslip is only too aware of the threat England will pose.

“The last Six Nations was a bit of a mixed bag for us, in a lot of the games we allowed teams back in but we’re focusing on setting high standards in training and minimising the errors that we make,” said Heaslip, who leads out the same XV that defeated Wales 30-22 after Declan Kidney named an unchanged side.

“Twickenham wasn’t a nice place to be last year after the final whistle, we felt like we let ourselves down a bit.

"This time around we got off to a good start in Cardiff but we are striving to be a consistently good side.”
