Parks: Clear the air talks do the trick

Scotland head coach Andy Robinson has sat his squad down for a heart-to-heart talk as he bids to turn their RBS 6 Nations fortunes around against England next weekend.
Robinson’s side have had a dismal campaign so far, rounded off with their 16-12 defeat at the hands of the Italian’s last time out, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the table without a point.

But fly-half Dan Parks has revealed that Robinson’s address has instilled a new found confidence in the Scottish squad and they are in good spirits heading into the Calcutta Cup.

“We had a really thorough talking over with Andy,” said Parks - who was man-of-the-match against both Wales and Italy.

“I have to say confidence is quite good at the moment. We just need to close off games.

“He was very honest and it was appreciated by all the boys, which was really good.

“We sat in it and took it. It was tough, but it was really good for the team.

“We had ourselves in a position to win the game against Italy and against Wales we should have won the game full stop.

“Confidence is still there. It is just a case of putting in an 80-minute performance instead of a 75-minute performance.”
