Kellock calls for more of the same against Italy

Scotland lock Alastair Kellock insists it is in the lineout where Saturday's RBS 6 Nations clash with Italy will be won or lost.
The 28-year-old Glasgow captain, who recently rejected a lucrative move to France to sign a new deal at Firhill, has been a key figure in Scotland’s lineout.

Despite going down to back-to-back defeats against France and Wales the Scots have lost just one, of 21 lineouts, on their own throw.

But despite their impressive ratio Kellock insists the Scotland pack won’t be resting on their laurels ahead of their must-win clash in Rome.

He said: “The fact it has gone well for the past couple of games doesn't mean we'll be taking anything for granted.

“The Italians have a good line-out defence and they'll try and put pressure on us.

“I'm really happy with the way it went in the Wales game, but I came off the pitch after the France game feeling it could have gone better.

“We still won most of our line-outs, but the delivery could have been cleaner.

“It's a great way to attack these days, when it's difficult to get clean ball from the scrum. But the line-out has got to be just one aspect of my game.

“I have to be playing well everywhere else to stay in the team.

“I do a lot of work in the line-out to make sure it's strong, but I also have to make sure I'm carrying ball and making my tackles.”
