Chris Cusiter insists Scotland are good enough to achieve an opening day victory over France - but must raise their game to do it.
Andy Robinson’s men have not won the opening match of RBS 6 Nations tournament since 2006, but they have been boosted by the return of top scorer Chris Paterson to the starting line-up.

Co-captain Cusiter, who will win his 49th cap for Scotland, insists a win at Murrayfield is possible if his team-mates hit their straps.

He said: “It's a huge game for us, In terms of gaining momentum in the championship, it's massive for us to get a win.

“We're playing at home at Murrayfield, and we have a proud record here - we're tough to beat - but we need to take a step and take a big scalp on Sunday.

“This is the Six Nations and it's a step up. From one to 22, we have to step up our game.

“Playing as we do in the Magners League won't be good enough on Sunday.

“We know we've got a massive challenge playing France. They're probably the favourites for the championship.

“The pressure's on, as it always is, but we're excited about the challenge and we're going to enjoy it.”
