THE FORCE was very definitely with Keighley Rugby Union Club this weekend as the Yorkshiremen saw their award of £5000 from the RBS RugbyForce initiative translated into a hugely successful makeover project that extended well beyond the range of repairs and renewals that the funding delivered.

Welsh Winger Shane Williams will be attending Pontycymer RFC's RBS RugbyForce Weekend this Sunday (6th June) to help the club renovate their facilities as part of the nationwide club renovation programme.

RBS RugbyForce, the nationwide initiative for renovating UK rugby clubs, has chosen three clubs, participating in the 2010 programme, to receive additional funding support for their club renovations. Pontycymmer RFC in South Wales, Marr RFC in Scotland and Keighley RFC in Yorkshire have all been awarded a grant worth £5,000 to help change the face of the rugby club in their communities.

RBS RugbyForce, the initiative aimed at helping local rugby clubs improve their facilities, has seen registrations across England, Scotland and Wales far exceed both last year's level and the 2010 goal of helping 100 clubs. As of 23 February, clubs are well on their way to doubling that ambitious goal.

RBS RugbyForce kicked-off its 2010 campaign this week at Keswick RFC in Cumbria. Keswick was chosen to receive special assistance through this launch event by the RBS RugbyForce panel in recognition of the club's fighting spirit, shown over the past five years after suffering from severe flooding in 2005 and 2009.
