Leinster stand-off Jonathan Sexton has been ruled out of the Ireland RBS 6 Nations squad for the next month, after fracturing his thumb against Leicester, at Welford Road, on Saturday.
Sexton's thumb will be put in a cast for four weeks to allow the injury to heal but it is not yet known if coach Eddie O'Sullivan will call a replacement for the 22-year-old, who was appearing in the international set up for the first time.
Ireland will meet in Killiney on Monday to begin their preparations for the game against Italy on February 2 at Croke Park.
The RBS 6 Nations Championship 2015 was not poised to go down as one of the more "vintage" Championships, though there was great anticipation as the action headed into its final day. What transpired was something that nobody could foresee: "The Greatest Day in Rugby's Greatest Championship."
