And Vernon's hopes of adding to his six international caps next month could be helped by teammate Johnnie Beattie's ineligibility to play for the Warriors in Europe - meaning he sat out against Wasps and will do the same when they face Newport.
But the 23-year-old maintains he will not lose sleep if he is not selected for the Six Nations - instead insisting he will focus his attentions on his domestic duties.
"I have no idea what is going to happen this week in terms of the Scotland squad," he said. "Of course I am hoping, but I don't like to speculate.
"There are loads and loads of great back-rowers in the country at the moment. I want to be involved but, if it doesn't happen, I will go with Glasgow to Wales and do my utmost to help them.
"We have some important matches coming up in the Magners League and we need to keep our momentum up.
"We know as a team we have improved as the season has gone on and it is a matter of finding consistency."
