But it could have been so different for Huget and co who saw Damien Chouly go over in the right corner late on for what looked like the winning try, only for referee Steve Walsh to rule the try out for a forward pass.
And Huget took great pride from a performance that he insisted came within a whisker of snatching victory.
"We held onto the ball, we managed to put together some interesting phases of play and shoved Ireland around," he said.
"With a bit of luck on those last plays we could have won the game.
"We watched England win in Rome so we knew that we were not going to be able to win the whole tournament, and as such we had nothing to lose.
"We wanted to give some pleasure and I think the crowd in the Stade de France watched quite a spectacle with suspense right up until the end."
