Davies is yet to feature for Wales during the 2014 RBS 6 Nations, having suffered a pectoral injury in their autumn defeat to South Africa.
However he returned to play 64 minutes for club side Scarlets at the weekend ahead of Wales' visit to England for their penultimate RBS 6 Nations encounter.
Wales assistant coach Edwards was elated to see Davies back in action and believes he will be in contention to start at Twickenham on Sunday.
"It was great see him come through the game last Saturday," Edwards told WalesOnline. "He has worked very hard with the conditioners during his time off.
"And I think that showed the way he played against a very strong opponent in Munster. He's looking forward to competing for a Wales shirt again.
"Ideally, he would have been playing week in, week out, but it is not always like that. Sometimes with special players you make special exceptions.
"It is nice to have that combination [of Davies and Jamie Roberts in the centre]. If Jonathan gets the nod, it is good to have that kind of understanding.
"They have played together for a long time."
