Cuthbert, who was named on the 37-strong British & Irish Lions squad to tour Australia this summer on Tuesday, was due to return from injury as the Blues travelled to Ulster.
The 23-year-old last featured as Wales denied England the Grand Slam in Cardiff back in March, scoring two tries in the 30-3 win that saw them defend their RBS 6 Nations title.
Cuthbert was to suffer a hamstring injury in the match though with his long-awaited comeback due to be as the Blues closed their season against Ulster at Ravenhill.
However Cuthbert was pulled out of the side and didn't feature as Ulster ran out 37-13 winners although Blues director of rugby Davies admitted it was simply as a precaution.
"He's OK," Davies told WalesOnline. "There's a lot at stake for him and he's just come back from a hamstring injury and it was a bit sore and we decided it wasn't worth the risk."
