Parisse scored Italy's first try in their memorable opening victory over France and featured against Scotland but he missed the defeat to Wales last time out, having received a 30-day ban.
As it stands Parisse is due to miss Italy's forthcoming clash with England and, while Masi admits it's a big loss, the London Wasps utility back has called on his Italian teammates to stand up and be counted.
"We hope that Sergio will be able to come back for the Italy, but we have a lot of leaders in the team," said Masi.
"With people like Castro [Martin Castrogiovanni] and the others in the pack there are people who can step up. I'm stepping in where I am needed, which is at full-back at the moment.
"We want to be more consistent, starting with the game against England."
