Both Philippe Saint-André, the France coach, and Declan Kidney, the Ireland coach, agreed with Pearson's assessment but both teams will now face the prospect of playing on four consecutive weekends.
Although there were reports French officials wanted the game to be rescheduled after the end of the season, the match has fallen on one of the two blank weekends in the Championship, the other being February 18/19.
The Six Nations Council confirmed that French and Irish ticket holders unable to attend the match will receive a full refund of their match ticket with further details set to be announced on Wednesday.
The match will kick off at 4pm French time and Six Nations chief executive John Feehan said: "We are delighted that we have agreed a new date and time for the RBS 6 Nations France vs Ireland match in the RBS 6 Nations window.
"We are also delighted that the FFR have announced a ticket refund scheme."
