Just as France v Ireland would 24 hours later in the senior RBS 6 Nations Championship, England Under-20s' proposed clash against their Azzurrini counterparts fell victim to the weather just before kick-off.
Stooke was named on the bench for that clash having made his debut as a replacement the week before in the win over Scotland.
And despite being new to the set-up, the Gloucester starlet says he has been made to feel right at home in the defending champions' camp.
He said: "It's definitely a big step up into the under 20s but I'm absolutely relishing every moment and I just want to keep giving a good account of myself.
"This is a great set-up with excellent coaches and all the players and staff help you get settled in straight away.
"Scotland was an amazing experience and I was so proud to come off the bench and make my debut."
