Wales coach Warren Gatland has already voiced his concerns the 28-year-old needs to return to the game from the celebrity circuit sooner rather than later.
Certain Wales players are thought to be unhappy that Henson was used as the WRU's poster boy despite his continued absence from rugby but chief Executive Roger Lewis stood by the decision.
He said: "So why Gavin Henson?" said Lewis. "Everyone wants to wear this jersey, Gavin certainly wants to wear this jersey.
"This jersey is the stuff of dreams and Gavin is dreaming about putting this jersey back on one day.
"You may have noticed he hasn't got his boots on - we're all looking forward for Gavin to put his boots back on and play rugby once again.
