And although Troiani admits it will be a big blow to lose their 93-cap talisman, he has urged the rest of his teammates to step up to the mark even if he is absent at the Stadio Olimpico.

"At present, we can only wait for the evolution of events. Until we hear otherwise, we can only assume the player is not available for Saturday,” said Troiani.

"That said, we cannot prepare for a tough game like this [against Wales] thinking about the situation of an individual, although the absence of Parisse would be very heavy.

"I think, first of all, it is our duty to stay focussed and work during the week to take the field on Saturday with the aim of beating Wales."
