Fittingly the final instalment on Super Saturday marks O'Driscoll's last game in an Ireland shirt as they bid to claim a first title since the 2009 Grand Slam.
Coach Joe Schmidt has made just one change to the side that beat Italy with fit-again backrower Peter O'Mahony replacing Iain Henderson, while on the bench the more versatile Ian Madigan replaces Paddy Jackson.
And while O'Connell is under no illusions about how tough the task is they face against France, the 34-year-old is taking no notice of what has gone before.
"It is going to be an incredibly tough game, it's exciting as captain to be in this situation," he said.
"We don't dwell on the past, we're aware of it and it's hard to get away from. We've been playing good rugby, we've progressed and when we played poorly against England we addressed it and fixed those problems.
"Knowing how good France are, how capable they are across the field. We're in a good place, feeling confident."
