Last year the Italians finished third in their Pool, behind Ireland and Australia, but will be targeting a top two pool finish in three years time.
Despite seeing his side finish fifth in last year’s RBS 6 Nations, and having never got past the pool stage at a World Cup, Parisse insists his side can have an impact.
And, pointing to a 22-21 victory over France in March 2011, and a narrow three-point defeat against Australia in November, Parisse hailed the improvement of Jacques Brunel’s side.
“Year by year, the Italian team is improving and we are surely close to beating a big team,” Parisse said.
“We did against France a couple of years ago [2011] and we put the pressure on Australia in November so I think we will have our chances in 2015.
“But still, it’s a difficult pool for us, especially as we will be trying to qualify from the pool for the first time in our history.
“When you see Wales and the Pool with England and Australia, this is a good pool for us.”
