And after losing their first two games of the PRO12 season Jackson’s club side Ulster responded with a 18-7 victory away to Irish rivals Connacht at the Sportsground.
But Jackson believes he, along with his side, are building confidence after a less-than perfect start to the campaign.
“It is a bit of a relieved changing room because obviously last season we got off to such a good start and we haven’t done that this year but hopefully we can get some confidence and some momentum going,” said Jackson.
“I missed my first two kicks so it could have gone either way but I knew the wind was tough to kick into but I felt more comfortable kicking down the pitch so I got more confidence and it’s coming along nicely.
“Sometimes we can panic when we are not really far ahead of teams and in the PRO12 it can take 60 minutes to break a team down but we need to be more patient.”
