Scott Johnson handed Ruaridh Jackson a first Scotland start since the 2011 World Cup in their 2013 RBS 6 Nations opener
Jackson praises Johnson's relaxed approach

Ruaridh Jackson has praised the impact of interim Scotland coach Scott Johnson, insisting the New Zealander's relaxed approach is paying dividends this RBS 6 Nations campaign.
Kiwi Johnson took the Scottish reins shortly before the start of the 2013 RBS 6 Nations after Andy Robinson resigned from the post following a poor string of results in November.

And despite getting off to a losing start against England in their opener, Johnson and Scotland turned things around against Italy as they ran in four tries in a 34-10 victory.

It was 89 years previously that Scotland last scored four tries in a championship match and fly-half Jackson – who Johnson handed a first start to against the Auld Enemy since the 2011 World Cup – is adamant the Kiwi’s fresh approach is behind their free-flowing performances.

“Everyone knows Scott is very jovial, and some of the stuff he comes out with seems strange at times,” the 25-year-old said.

“But there is always a method to his madness, whereas Robbo [Andy Robinson] maybe seemed a lot more serious all the time.

“Every coach is different and it is about getting that balance right. Johnno has come in with a good, fresh approach, and is trying to get some enjoyment back in the camp and getting us to relax, because pressure does mount up on you when you are losing games.”
