Victory against Scotland at Lasswade RFC on Saturday 23 February will continue their unbeaten run in the campaign and improve their chances of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.
Doyle stated that beating the English at the 18th time of asking was an unforgettable experience and attributed their success to a ‘special’ squad and management.
Speaking after the extraordinary victory, Doyle said: “It is the best day ever for Irish women’s rugby. It’s just memorable. I have been involved in woman’s rugby for 20 years. It has been 20 years of hard work. It encapsulates what we have been trying to do for many years. We have been so close over the years.
“I have always said that this a special bunch of girls. It’s takes a squad of 30 girls and our management team to beat a side like England who are ranked number 1 in the world.”
Doyle declared that greater challenges lie ahead in the competition and the remaining fixtures present an opportunity for them to develop as a side.
He added: “Let’s hope we can go forward now because we have gone to the next level. We need to move on from here because there are bigger fish to fry in this championship.”
