O'Driscoll and Kearney key to Ireland's plans

Australia coaching coordinator Tony McGahan expects Brian O'Driscoll and Rob Kearney to be central to Ireland's RBS 6 Nations chances.

McGahan is keeping a close look on the Northern Hemisphere with the British and Irish Lions tour to his homeland under Wales’ Six Nations Grand Slam winning coach Warren Gatland taking place in June.

Tommy Bowe was the star of the Irish campaign last year with five tries as Ireland finished third in the table, while Kearney failed to get his name on the score sheet and O’Driscoll missed the tournament with a shoulder injury.

But McGahan is backing Six Nations all-time leading try scorerO’Driscoll to make a big impact this year alongside his partner in crime at Leinster.

“Brian and Rob will both play big parts in Leinster's assaults on two fronts for the rest of the season and will also be key to how Ireland fare in the Six Nations,” he told the Irish Independent.

“Brian is a player who commands huge respect on this side of the world.

“O'Driscoll is a player who can win a match with one moment of magic and I am certain he will be a part of the touring party that travels to Australia

“What he has achieved with Leinster and, in particular, with Ireland is well known in Australia. He is a player who has certainly been a marvellous player for a long number of years and he continues to be.

“They are two superb players who have been a huge reason why Leinster have been so successful over the last five or six years.”
