Scotland stand-off Dan Parks kicked four penalties as Glasgow opened their Magners League campaign with victory over Newport-Gwent Dragons.
There were no tries in the match at Rodney Parade, which was played in horrendously wet conditions, and it was the accurate kicking of the Sydney-born playmaker which proved decisive for Sean Lineen’s men.

The only negative note in the 12-6 away success for Glasgow was the yellow card for Scotland forward Johnnie Beattie late in the game.

Edinburgh could not make it a Scottish double, though, as they were defeated 15-20 by European giants Munster at Murrayfield.

Keith Earls and David Wallace scored tries for the Irish province while Ronan O’Gara added 10 points with his reliable boot.

Chris Paterson kicked five penalties for his side and Nick de Luca had a try ruled out by the video referee in the dying seconds.
