Gonzalo Quesada believes Jonathan Wisniewski is approaching international form

Wisniewski still dreaming of French call-up

Racing-Metro fly-half Jonathan Wisniewski insists he hasn't given up on breaking into the French team despite missing out on RBS 6 Nations selection.
Les Bleus have struggled at fly-half in their three defeats to date, with Frédéric Michalak starting their first two matches before François Trinh-Duc took over for the game in England.

At the same time, Wisniewski has been in impressive form for a Racing team who have won their last six games in the Top 14 to move into play-off contention.

His coach, and former France backs coach, Gonzalo Quesada, believes Wisniewski is approaching international form, and despite being 27, the fly-half remains hopeful of a call-up.

He said: “I’ve heard my name mentioned, and that is always pleasing. But with the situation where players are in place, there is a squad. [Philippe Saint-André] will stick with them until the end of the tournament, it’s the logical decision.

“I’m not going to say that I don’t hope I’ll get called up, I do and am doing everything I can to do so.

“I’ve been working since I came back from injury and if I get my chance I’ll be delighted. For now my priority is my club, we have an exciting end to the season.

“When we came back from the break we weren’t at our best, now we have given ourselves the chance to do something. The main priority is to finish the season well, and if something more comes, then it’s meant to be.”
