Street offered no excuses in defeat, praising Ireland for their victory and resisting the temptation to blame the fact that England are without a host of senior players who are currently focusing on their Sevens campaign.

And he revealed England’s clash with France is now their number one focus as the defending champions look to get back to winning ways.

“We’re obviously massively disappointed with the result, but Ireland were excellent – they dominated us,” said Street.

“They upped their game from last week and we just couldn’t deal with it. We’ll look at the video of this one and then move on and put all of our focus on the France game.”
