Jones admits Wales looking for inside knowledge

Wales backs coach Mark Jones admits the Red Dragons' management team have been gaining inside knowledge from their French-based players as they look to halt les Bleus in Paris on Saturday.
Both France and Wales will be looking for their first win of the 2013 RBS 6 Nations and Jones revealed he’s been picking the brains of players such as Gethin Jenkins, Mike Phillips, James Hook and Lee Byrne about Philippe Saint-Andre’s side.

Last year’s victory over the French was Wales’ first since their 2008 Grand Slam while they haven’t won in Paris since their 2005 clean sweep and they go into Saturday’s match on the back of eight straight losses.

But Jones is confident his side will know exactly what to expect at the Stade de France thanks to those players who ply their trade on the Continent.

“We've had conversations with those players. You've got Wesley Fofana down in Clermont so we've been picking Lee Byrne's brains about his strengths,” said Jones, who featured in Wales' 2008 victory France.

“They know their weaknesses even more, that's something else that comes into the equation and one that we're certainly thinking about.

“They are a fantastic rugby team and they've got the potential to win very badly and win very well, that's how good they can be.

“I'm never very happy to play France because they are a quality outfit, but I think it's a good game for us.”
