Berot predicting more of the same from Italy in Scotland

Italy assistant coach Philippe Berot has hailed his side's performance against France during the opening round of the RBS 6 Nations and predicted more of the same against Scotland.
Italy travel to Murrayfield on Saturday fresh from a convincing 23-18 win against France last time out – and with genuine hopes of making it two wins from two games against Scotland in Edinburgh.

While Italy demonstrated a performance of genuine power and maturity – Scotland collapsed at Twickenham, losing 38-18 to Stuart Lancaster’s newlook England.

And that is why Berot is genuinely positive about his side’s chances of maintaining their 100 per cent start to life in this season’s Six Nations.

"We are maturing; I am confident about the group's ability to handle the pressure and about the awareness of all of us that any distraction would pay dearly,” said Berot.

“We have embarked on a new journey, on Saturday we can understand if there is a maturity just to get to great results.

“I think it is important, now, that the players do not think they have reached a very high level: we had a good game against France, but we still maintain the spirit and humility of a team under construction.

“This is the beginning of a journey, there are still many things to do but we are on track.

“Our rugby is still far from perfect, we need to improve accuracy and attitude and Saturday we are going to challenge an opponent fast and capable of building rugby. It will be interesting to see how Scotland play but it will be very difficult."
