England survived a late Wales fight back at Twickenham to get their RBS 6 Nations campaign off to a winning start thanks to a second-half score from Care, a double from Haskell and 15 points from Jonny Wilkinson.

But with a tough trip to the Stadio Flaminio to face Italy coming hot on the heels of the Wales clash Care insisted there would be no complacency.

"It was great to start with this win," said Care. "But as soon as we got in the changing room, Martin Johnson reminded us there are four big games to come."

And Care’s words of caution were echoed by two-try hero Haskell.

"We've always stuck together and believed that we had the potential to do it and at times we showed what we can do,” said Haskell.

"This is a step in the right direction. We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. It's a very small step, but it's a positive step."
