Strokosch's only previous full Test appearance was 10 minutes as substitute against Australia in 2006.

He told The Scotsman: "It was certainly better than ten minutes running around like a headless chicken against Australia. I feel I've started my Scotland career now and just want it to continue really.

"I just wanted to go out and do my job, and what the coaches wanted from me. I know there were mistakes I need to look at with the coaches next week and work out how I can cut them out, but hopefully I've done enough to earn another shot.

"It's not up to me. It's the old cliche: 'I can't control selection, only how I played'. But I was pleased at how much I got the ball in my hands and the amount of ground I made at times.

“It seemed as if every time I got up from a ruck someone was passing me the ball and my attitude from start to finish was just to work my ass off, so I was happy with that.”
