England call up three players to training
4 February 2008, 12:39 pm
By Rob Barnett
England Head Coach, Brian Ashton MBE, has called up three players to the squad that are preparing for the RBS 6 Nations match against Italy on Sunday, February 10th in Rome. Uncapped scrum half Lee Dickson (Newcastle Falcons), Shane Geraghty (London Irish), who was Man of the Match for the England Saxons in last Friday's 31-13 victory over Ireland A at Welford Road, and Magnus Lund (Sale Sharks) will all join the training squad at their base in Bath.
LEE DICKSON BIOGRAPHY

Club: Newcastle Falcons

Position: Scrum half

Born: 29.3.85, Verden, Germany

Height: 1.80m, Weight 77kgs

School Attended: Barnard Castle, Durham
Representative Honours: Scotland U19, England U21 (2005 Six Nations and World Championships), England Saxons (2007 Barclays Churchill Cup v USA(R), S(R), NZ(R); 2008 Six Nations v I)

Scrum half Dickson was born in Verden, Germany, as his father was in the British Army and was based over there at the time. He made his Falcons first team debut as a replacement against Saracens in the 2004/05 season, also coming on against London Wasps and Leicester Tigers later that season.

A member of the England squad for the 2005 U21 World Cup in Argentina, he had previously represented Scotland in the 2004 U19 World Cup before switching international allegiances. In 2005 the former Barnard Castle schoolboy captained the successful Falcons Academy Sevens squad to the titles in Hawick, Langholm and Selkirk before being named Academy player of the season for 2004/05.

Having started the 2005/06 season in similarly effective style, an anterior cruciate ligament injury ruled him out of most of the campaign, as he underwent a knee reconstruction, which also forced him to miss the U21s’ Six Nations and World Championships.

Back in action last season, he capped a productive club season with selection for the England Barclays Churchill Cup squad, appearing in all three matches after kicking off with a try scoring debut in the 51-3 opening win against the USA at Edgeley Park.
