Andy Robinson
Robinson does Hadden a favour

Edinburgh head coach Andy Robinson has aided Scotland's RBS 6 Nations preparations by leaving three key members of Frank Hadden's side out of his squad for the trip to Toulouse on Saturday.
Scrum-half Mike Blair, hooker Ross Ford and promising centre Nick de Luca are left behind as Robinson gives his star trio a well-earned rest ahead of the start of the tournament in three weeks' time.

The former England coach insists he is making the changes as reward for the players' sterling contributions this season, but there is no doubt Hadden will approve of the recuperation time enjoyed by the three players.

Test prop Allan Jacobsen is also left out of the game in the south of France, which is a dead rubber as Edinburgh can not qualify for the last eight, while Calum MacRae, Ben Meyer, Augusto Allori, Andrew Kelly and Alan MacDonald are drafted in.

Robinson, who gives MacDonald a start ahead of Roly Reid, is eager for his men to end Pool 6 on a high after a terrific victory over Leicester last weekend.

“I was asked after the Leicester game if we’d now be looking to prepare for our next Magners League match against Munster in mid-February but as I said then, we’re going to Toulouse to win,” said the former Bath flanker.

“Our whole focus is just on Toulouse and I’d like people to understand whoever wears the shirt it doesn’t matter. It’s Edinburgh on the field and we’re there to win.

“This is my call. I’m looking at this from the player management viewpoint. I’ve asked them over the last three months to put their bodies on the line and that they’ve done."
