Edinburgh winger Andrew Turnbull praised the handling skills and the ambition shown by his colleagues in their victory over Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park.
Andy Robinson's men continued their climb up the Magners League table with their fourth win in a row – despite being reduced to 13 men in the latter stages of the first half.
With Scotland scrum-half Mike Blair in commanding form at No 9, Edinburgh's enterprising play along the backline in difficult conditions meant they fully deserved their third win in four years in the Welsh capital.
Turnbull was central to Edinburgh's effort, touching down in the corner in the seventh minute after being sent clear by Scotland winger Simon Webster, who brilliantly exploited a loose kick with some devastating broken-field running.
Even after Scotland hopeful Nick De Luca and lock Matt Mustchin were sin-binned within four minutes of each other did Cardiff exert control and give the Blues a 7-5 interval lead.
But the visitors played the more controlled rugby in the second period's slippery conditions and two kicks from Phil Godman secured a crucial away success.
Turnbull told Edinburgh's website: “In those conditions, some teams might not expect you to move the ball like that. Cardiff were surprised and it turned out well.
“The conditions made it difficult, although it was a bit better in the second half when the rain stopped. It wasn’t the best and it became a bit of a dogfight.
“When that happens it is all about your attitude and how you go about the job; you just get on with it.”
