Snow prevents showdown

Friday's Magners League match between Ulster and Munster at Ravenhill was called off after heavy snowfall.

The pitch had been under around four inches of snow all day but the main consideration was for safety of the expected 12,000-strong crowd.

An Ulster club statement read: "With supporters travelling from all over the province for the match and treacherous conditions on the roads, not to mention within the ground itself, it was felt that it would be impossible to proceed."

The match will now be re-scheduled by Celtic Rugby.
