Warriors ready to slay Dragons
4 January 2008, 11:36 am
By Justin Goulding
Glasgow Warriors head coach Sean Lineen insists the defeats to Biarritz and Edinburgh have made the Magners League clash with Newport Gwent Dragons a "huge" match.
The Firhill side crashed 35-31 to Edinburgh in the league last Friday, a defeat which came a fortnight after Warriors lost in France to Biarritz in the Heineken Cup.

They have made changes for Friday’s clash, with backs Thom Evans, Graeme Morrison and Chris O’Young missing from last week’s team as Colin Shaw, Scott Barrow and Sam Pinder come into the XV.

Up front, Dan Turner and James Eddie replace Johnnie Beattie and Alastair Kellock, who drop to the bench. Captain Kellock will hand over the armband to Dan Parks.

Warriors have won just once in eight previous meetings with the Dragons, and Lineen said: “Despite a few injuries in the backs, the selection reflects players that are putting their hands up for places. We’ve also picked a pack that will deliver.

“The game is huge for us. It’s all about momentum. We need to get back on track after a few disappointing results.”
