Strokosch seeks second cap
3 January 2008, 2:27 pm
By Catherine Goble
Guinness Premiership player of the month Alasdair Strokosch will seek to further enhance his Scotland claims when he lines up for Gloucester against Bath on Friday.
The Paisley-born forward has been a revelation since joining the Premiership high-fliers from Edinburgh in the summer, culminating in being named the league's leading player for December.

Strokosch was part of an extensive exodus of international players from Glasgow, Edinburgh and the now-defunct Borders.

And although the 24-year-old was one of the lower-profile names to leave Scotland, he has proved one of the most successful exports.

Gloucester have a plethora of top-class back-row options but the tough-tackling flanker has been so impressive in his early days at Kingsholm that he has already been rewarded with a new two-year contract.

Strokosch has one cap to his name to date and believes he has made the right move to add to that solitary Scotland appearance.

Frank Hadden names his RBS 6 Nations squad in a fortnight’s time and another strong showing against west country rivals Bath will increase Strokosch’s chances of inclusion.

He said: “It was a jump to leave what I knew at Edinburgh but my decision has been totally vindicated. I know I am in the right place to further my career.”
