Ashton gets Wilko backing

England coach Brian Ashton has been backed by stand-off Jonny Wilkinson as the RFU prepares to decide who will be training the side in the near future.

Ashton is expected to hear on Wednesday whether he will stay on as coach after leading England to the World Cup final.

"Over the years, Brian has always been right there for me," Wilkinson told BBC Radio 5 Live's Sportsweek.

"He made life very, very easy for me at the World Cup and that's no mean feat when you think about the pressure and fear of failure that's flying about."
